All Basic Blacksmith Courses start with an introductory safety briefing day.  Attendance is mandatory by all students for safety and insurance reasons. An introduction to the tools and equipment to be used will be covered. There is also an overview of the course and an opportunity to talk about what are your expectations. Course 2018/3 – Week 1 The Wednesday night evening sessions start at 6:30pm and finish at 9pm. Clothing worn must be cotton or wool, no synthetics. Footwear must be fully enclosed and leather is preferred. Safety glasses to be worn while in the forge. Leather gloves can be used however not encouraged to be worn on the hammer hand (allows for slipping of hammer). Leather aprons are provided by the Association, their use is optional. Tools are provided for forging.…
